Is there any hope for a thriving H/H community in LA, or is there just not enough critical mass to keep it active? It seems to me that it should be possible to maintain at least a low level of activity - enough to provide a campfire for communication, awareness, etc. Maybe once a quarter or twice a year, even if only a handful of folks show up. The Boston H/H seems to be a real success, and I’m sure they would be happy to advise on what works and doesn’t. I don’t mind helping out with some organizing, showing up, etc. Anyone else interested? Lets get together and discuss.
Street parking is available on 2nd street west of Figueroa.

Hey everyone. I have set us up with a slack channel in the News Nerdery slack. Message me with your email and I can add you.

Really bummed to miss this after all. Had a childcare issue pop up. Looking forward to next time.

Reminder: the best place to park is on 2nd just west of Figueroa and then walk around to the gate entrance on Figueroa. The office is on the second floor on the south end of the complex.

Hey all, I'd be happy to bring some snacks tomorrow and do a whip-round afterwards. Or if there are any volunteers to bring soda or chips or whatever, let me know!

Hi folks, I'd be keen to come along to this. (And hi Paddy, I think you edited me when I was working with Amy on our University of Phoenix stuff a few years back =)

Thanks David, I did not see a way to add Suite 200 to the location. I can just write it in the description if that is the only way.

I just confirmed that we can use Marketplace as a venue. Monday the 5th or Thursday the 8th after 7 works best.

Wonderful! It was starting to feel lonely here :-)
The Marketplace office at Fig & 3rd is a perfect venue. On timing - my suggestion is that we wait until after ONA, both for the momentum and to have a chance to recruit more folks. How about sometime during the week of October 5th?

I know Paul was interested in hosting meetups. It seems like a relatively small group so we could probably do it in that main area to the left of the entrance or we could get a conference room downstairs. I think we would just need to give a date and time.

I'd be interested. Downtown works for me too. Had gone to one about a year ago, but it was more hack than hackers and the intensive coding was definitely beyond my comfort level.

I'm interested, David, and (selfishly) downtown works great for me. I sometimes work at Marketplace, which is in a building at the complex at 261 South Figueroa, at the junction of Fig and 3rd. The people who just bought the building want to make it a "destination" which means there are some communal spaces that we could just gather at. Parking on 2nd street under the 101 is cheap. Or the building's lot is expensive. Might be worth considering.

Anyone else interested? How about meeting up for an organization-only H/H session? Somewhere downtown, maybe?

I'm surpris ed by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
