Digital Security & Encryption for Journalists

Protecting the identity of journalistic sources and whistleblowers is an increasingly complex issue in South Africa.

Visiting hacktivist and security geek Runa Sandvik, from the Tor Project in London, will share practical tips to help journalists secure their computers and phones, encrypt their communications, and will offer advice for how best to protect sources and whistleblowers.

Hacks/Hackers Johannesburg will host the meetup at its new home, Jozihub, at 44Stanley.

Here'll be free snacks / drinks for registered participants. Bring your laptops and other electronic devices for the hands-on workshop session. Seats are limited, so register now!

Please let me know if you compile a presentation on this interesting session. Unfortunately, can't attend in person, but would really like to receive information. Thanks, Fiona @ Oxpeckers

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
