#HackTheConstitution - Catch up and Hackathon planning

Details

#HackTheConstitution is a project by Hacks/Hackers Johannesburg in association with TEDxJoburg and Design, Share, Party through which we plan to make South Africa's Constitution more accessible for citizens by building a tool that can be used to inform, educate and - occasionally - entertain. The tool will be for journalists, teachers, lawyers, activists and anyone who wants to know more about one of the world's finest legal documents.

We suspect that the ultimate caretakers of the Constitution, the ConCourt, are going to be quite busy over the next few years, given the newly defined political landscape of the country following the elections. Hopefully this tool will help explain the importance of the supreme law of the land in years to come.

We've got a big hackathon planned for creating content and fine tuning the #HackTheConstution app, so we need to squeeze in a couple of planning meetings ahead of that date (which is 25th August - all day at Tshimologong in Braamfontein).

So this is the first - it takes place on Thursday 11th August from 6pm at Jozihub (we'll aim to get going by 6.30 and finished by 8). As ever, it's open to any one who wants to get involved with the project whether you've been along before or not. Please do invite your friends, students, coworkers, mortal enemies etc.

We'd really like to get everyone who's expressed an interest in helping out on the tech side of #HackTheConstitution to this meeting too. There's a bit of work to do ahead of the hackathon, and we need to share it out as equally as possible.

See you there!
