Hacks Hackers June Meetup
Details
Summer is here, and so is the first meet-up in Twitter's airy Air Street offices. We're back with some more awesome speakers and more drinks!
Speakers
- Matt Liddy, @mattliddy (https://twitter.com/mattliddy), ABC News (http://www.abc.net.au/news/)
More and more interactive news projects have come about when hacks and hackers work together with academics, or (blame Matt for this), hackademics.
Matt Liddy (https://twitter.com/mattliddy) is editor of interactive digital storytelling with @abcnews in Australia. He leads a small multi-disciplinary team dedicated to telling stories in creative ways on digital platforms. Their work ranges across data journalism, long-form multimedia storytelling, interactive visual journalism, mapping - and even the odd listicle and GIF.
2) Alastair Jardine, @aj_ux (https://twitter.com/aj_ux), the Guardian
"Build your own tools (or die?)"
Being a successful news organisation now doesn't only require you to have great journalism: you need great tools too. Alastair (https://twitter.com/aj_ux), Senior UX Architect at the Guardian (http://www.theguardian.com/uk), will explore ways in which tools need to both drive change and react to the evolving media landscape.
Drinks!
This month drinks sponsorship comes from Cronycle (https://www.cronycle.com/). The folks there say:
'Cronycle organises your content streams, making it easy for you to find and enjoy the stories that matter to you. No ads, no clutter, just the things you care about, exactly how you need them.'
