Hacks/Hackers September Meetup

Details
Dear Hacks & Hackers
The summer might be over (boo) but that means we're back (yay!). We're delighted to announce the September event will be on 24 September at Twitter UK.
Talks start at 7pm.
Who's speaking?
India Rakusen (@IndiaRakusen (https://twitter.com/IndiaRakusen)), one of the lead reporters in a new BBC/ABC collaboration called timesXtwo (Times Two).
timesXtwo is a YouTube channel aimed at reaching new and younger audiences with original journalism exploring key issues around the world. She's been reporting on the refugee crisis.
Micha Benoliel (@anthenor (https://twitter.com/anthenor)), CEO and co-founder of Open Garden, creators of Firechat. Micha will talk mesh networks and security. He'll tell us how Firechat was used for communication during the Hong Kong protests and Burning Man.
What about lightning pitches?
We have several!
• Alastair Reid, managing editor, First Draft News (@ajreid)
• Holly Kilroy, Umbrella
• Rajpal Rai, NowTranscribe
• Russell Merryman, London College of Communication
The FT is buying the beer!
Many thanks to the FT for sponsoring this month's meetup. You'll be able to thank Renée Kaplan who'll be at the event. Renée is head of audience engagement at The Financial Times and will be talking about her team that includes social media, data analysts, engagement producers, and other hacks and hackers.
Oh no, I'm too far down the waiting list!

We've had interest in the past from academic institutions wishing to secure paid places for students. We're trialling this in limited numbers – please contact us if you'd like to know more.
Hope to see you this month!
