Hacks/Hackers November Meetup

Details
Dear Hacks & Hackers
We're delighted to announce our next event will be on Monday 30 November at the Institute of Directors. Doors open at 6:30pm, and talks start at 7pm.
Who's Speaking?
Janine Gibson (@janinegibson (https://twitter.com/janinegibson)) is the editor-in-chief of BuzzFeed UK, running the news team in London and overseeing all editorial content since September 2015.
Prior to BuzzFeed, Gibson worked at The Guardian for 17 years, most notably launching The Guardian US in 2013 and overseeing its Pulitzer Prize–winning reporting of the Edward Snowden leaks. Her other roles at The Guardian included media editor, launching and editing the mediaguardian.co.uk (http://mediaguardian.co.uk/)website and editor of theguardian.com (http://theguardian.com/).
Mukul Devichand (@MukulDevichand (https://twitter.com/MukulDevichand)) is the creator and editor of BBC Trending - a new form of social news gathering and storytelling project for the BBC that provides context and analysis to stories that trend on social media. A Radio 4 presenter by background, his work also includes programmes such as Crossing Continents, Analysis, From Our Own Correspondent and The Report.
Blathnaid Healy (@blathnaidhealy (https://twitter.com/blathnaidhealy)) is the UK Editor @mashable. She'll be talking about Mashable's experiments with form and storytelling, particularly using Snapchat as a medium.
Who is buying the booze?
Drinks are courtesy of The Wall Street Journal's new WSJ City app, a fact-packed news app for London. See what you think of the new app by downloading it (for free) from the App Store. (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wsj-city/id1046979092?mt=8)
Phillipa Leighton-Jones (@PhillipaLJ (https://twitter.com/PhillipaLJ)) will be telling us about the thinking behind the app.
How to RSVP
Places will be available via Meetup.com. Please RSVP using Meetup.com by clicking yes on the RSVP button titled "Are you going?" at the top of the page.
This button will only appear if there are places available. Unfortunately, if it doesn't display, it means there are no more places available. Please wait for another batch or purchase a paid ticket.
Want to skip the Waiting List?
Paid tickets are available for people who can't get a place. Get your limited edition "queue-jumper" pass here:
Click on this link for Eventbrite tickets. (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hackshackers-november-meetup-tickets-19405739088)
Important note about Eventbrite tickets:
Please note that if you buy a queue-jumper ticket, you will still need to sign up to Meetup.com (if you haven't already). After you've booked your ticket on Meetup.com you will also be added to the Meetup.com RSVP list, and you will receive an email from Meetup.com to confirm your attendance. This does not mean you have two places!
Block Bookings available for Schools and Universities
We've had interest in the past from academic institutions wishing to secure paid places for students. We're trialling this in limited numbers – please contact us if you'd like to know more.
Late RSVPs
RSVPs will close at 1pm on the day of the event, because we need to compile the list of attendees for security.
If you change your Meetup.com RSVP after this time, it's not possible to remove you from the attendee list. Nor is it possible for us to give your place to someone else. So if you can't make it, please can you change your RSVP before 1pm on the day of the event? Anything later makes you a no-show.
Look forward to seeing you there.
