Join us for the launch of Hacks/Hackers Manchester!
Much has changed since 2009, when the original Hacks/Hackers began in San Francisco. The idea of journalists and technologists working together no longer seems so unusual. But it's still only the beginning.
Manchester's thriving digital sector, its many media outlets and three universities (we include our friends in Salford!) mean it is teeming with journalists, designers, technologists, students and academics. Hacks/Hackers MCR aims to bring all these people together, providing a space for collaboration, inspiration and learning.
We've got lots of ideas for all sorts of events in the coming months, but the launch is a chance for us to meet each other and find out what people are already doing.
It's always great to be in there right at the start of something amazing. So bring your laptop if you want to show stuff or just grab a beer and have a chat. Let's build the future of information and media together!

Thank you very much, everyone who came to the launch meeting last night at Kosmonaut. Rob and I were delighted to see so many people turn up and the discussions were great. We knew there was a lot of talent in Manchester :)

Hello and thanks to everyone who has joined Hacks/HackersMcr. We're hoping to build a really vibrant community with lots of opportunity for inspiration and collaboration.
We're excited about meeting so many of you at our launch event on 22nd October at The Kosmonaut Bar. We've reserved a few booths and we'll stick some signs up so you should be able to find me and Rob OK. Just come over and say hello and we'll take things from there. If you have ideas for events and happenings you'd like HHMcr to organise, please let us know at the launch event. We'll jot them all down and do our best to create a wide range of activities.

Hello everyone. It's great to see so many people joining Hacks/HackersMcr. Rob and I are planning the next meet-up for late November/early December. We're hoping to have a few short talks lined up, loosely around the theme of networks, crowdsourcing and participatory media. So if you have any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, do let us know.
