Hello World. Some Hackternooners have hatched a plan to HELP YOU install a Rails training environment on your laptop or desktop computer. It works like this: Bring your computer to Sunday Hackternoon at Ground Floor. We will study your computer and your goals. We will subject you to our opinionated agenda: - A windows environment offers an unsuitable Rails training environment - A Mac OS/X computer usually offers a suitable Rails training environment - A Linux or FreeBSD computer usually offers a suitable Rails training environment - A computer with a recent Ubuntu 10.04 install offers an optimal Rails training environment Then, we will work with you to ATTEMPT to install a Rails training environment on your computer. If the attempt fails, "VirtualBox" gives us an option to work-around that failure. If you have a windows (or Mac) computer, we can show you how to install Ubuntu 10.04 on it. HOW!?!? VirtualBox allows you to run Ubuntu 10.04 on top of windows (or Mac). VirtualBox needs about 30G of disk space. Aside from that it leaves windows (or Mac OS/X) untouched. But, what if we cannot install VirtualBox on your computer? (Maybe you lack enough diskspace). Then we will have servers setup at Sunday Hackternoon that we will allow you to use for learning Rails. These servers will have a complete Rails training environment for each student who lacks a Rails-worthy laptop. The Hackternooners are working with the fine folks at SV-Hands-On-Programming to teach "Full Stack" Application Technology. An example of a "Full Stack" application would be LinkedIn.com which combines web, mobile, and cloud technology to connect you to valuable data. Why are the Hackternooners offering this service? We are in it to earn money from students who want to learn "Full Stack" application development skills. These skills are in hot demand now. Students want to learn these skills.
