Introducing Hadoop 2.0 on Windows
Ted Malone, Microsoft
Recently, Hortonworks introduced the Hadoop 2.0 stack on Windows, which brings massive improvements to the Hadoop ecosystem, including the use of the YARN resource manager for a more multi-user experience. In this session we will discuss the improvements to the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) 2.0, and will demonstrate how Hadoop can be an integral component of any agencies data analytics platform. We will also demonstrate how HDP 2.0 can serve as the source for high-end data analytics using Excel and Power BI capabilities.

Hadoop Security - Today's Challenges and Tomorrow's Future
Kevin T. Smith, Novetta Solutions
One of the biggest concerns in our present age revolves around the security and protection of sensitive information. Organizations are collecting, analyzing, and making decisions based on analysis of massive amounts of data sets from various sources, and security in this process is becoming increasingly more important. With regulations like HIPAA and other privacy protection laws, many organizations are challenged with securing access internally and the releasability of data sets. Organizations using Apache Hadoop face many challenges and options, as (1) security professionals have continued to point out potential security vulnerabilities in Hadoop, (2) as there are a large number of vendors focusing on security-enhanced distributions of Hadoop and solutions that complement Hadoop Security, and (3) as projects like Project Rhino, big security changes are coming to Hadoop itself.
