Hadoop Use Cases

We're happy to announce the next get-together of the Munich Hadoop User Group. This time, we'll meet at the offices of NetApp. We'll have two interesting talks about Hadoop use cases.

*Johannes Feulner, Fun Communications GmbH: Log Management based on Hadoop:

Every enterprise creates rapidly increasing amounts of data on its operational IT systems. The larger part of that is machine data that tended to be neglected in the past. Log Management ist the art to to work with this data, to collect, to store, to analyze and finally to get fresh insights relevant to one's business. Hadoop is an excellent platform to create powerful Log Management solutions. Illustrated by a real use case, advantages of the application of Hadoop to Log Management tasks will be demonstrated. Special attention will be given to Hunk, a fairly new high level analytics and visualization tool for Hadoop from Splunk Inc.

FlexPod Select with Hadoop is a new family under the FlexPod platform that NetApp and Cisco have jointly validated as a reference architecture based on NetApp Open Solution for Hadoop (NOSH) with Cisco UCS Servers and Nexus Switches. The solution is called Cisco Platform for NetApp Open Solution for Hadoop and is targeted at enterprises that want to get control and gain insights from their “big data” and require a reliable, scalable infrastructure for Hadoop to achieve this goal.
