Agenda

6.30pm Networking over a beer & pizza

7.00pm Welcome

7.05pm A deep dive into Apache Cassandra with an introduction to Apache Spark integration

By: Christopher Batey - Software Engineer at Datastax

After a very brief introduction to Apache Cassandra then we'll head into the details. We're going to cover:

• Write path: How Cassandra keeps your data safe

• Read path: How Cassandra can keep your queries fast

• Compaction

• Replication

We'll then go into the exciting world of Apache Spark integration, and learn how you can turn your operational datastore into an analytics platform. Apache Spark has taken the Hadoop world by storm (no pun intended!) recently, and is widely seen as the replacement to Hadoop Map Reduce. Apache Spark coupled with Cassandra are perfect allies, Cassandra does the distributed data storage, Spark does the distributed computation.

8.30 - 9.00pm Networking
