We are Ents (e-Business Entrepreneurs), so we are passionate about creating software-enabled businesses. We use online tools and work strange hours via informal online communities. We build new businesses because it is in our blood to help people as efficiently as we can, and we gravitate towards others that help us help people.

EntMent is attempting to become a collection of regional social clubs, each managed by their own membership which uses a GroupBuild process to help Ents attract Ments (Mentors), Partners, Customers and Angel Investors.

The GroupBuild process means we don't just have fun, but we also focus the club's combined efforts around those of us who get stuff done. Yep, EntMent is a bit elitist in that regard, but we have to be, because we don’t want to waste each others’ time. Anyone can be a dreamer, but Ents must also be doers.

Our informal monthly meetups are a place to help and be helped, typically in a relaxed but not necessarily unhurried manner. A sense of urgency radiates from those who have a business vision, and this enthusiasm is contagious. We exercise this goodwill by practicing how we pitch our visions, by demonstrating our solutions and by testing our ideas on each other.

EntMent also hosts other EntMentEvents, such as seminars, dinners, etc. The Annual Demofest Unconference is open to all local club chapters, and is typically held in a University commons area, with enough computer workstations to accommodate hundreds of concurrent presentations and “cluster demos”.

Our club has a NOT-FOR-PROFIT charter, which means nobody gets paid around here. Everyone is a volunteer. Please respect that. It really sucks when people take advantage, so please remember that this is a sociable club and please don’t be more interested in taking than giving.

“It is better to have one person working with you than three people working for you.” — Dwight D. Eisenhower
