On Saturday, May 17, 2014, HandReach will host "Healing Hands," a daylong intensive workshop for trauma survivors and therapists from a variety of holistic healing modalities to come together to share, teach, collaborate, and refine methods to work with survivors of severe physical or emotional trauma. The day will begin together with an opening drum circle and introductions, after which attendees will circulate through concurrent sessions offering experiential training in five healing traditions: 1) touch/massage, 2) energy work, 3) sound/music therapy, 4) arts/expressive therapy, and 5) community-building. Because these five arenas often overlap in philosophy and practice, Healing Hands will provide collaborative space for professionals to share expertise and explore ways to prepare volunteers (age 13 and up) for mindful work in clinical settings with survivors of trauma. Trauma survivors will be able to explore and engage in numerous healing techniques, while providing their unique perspective on the psychosocial healing process. The day will close with final thoughts and group meditation to set intention for future practice and collaboration. Please contact Conny Morrison ([masked]) for information about presenting or attending. A directory of attendees will be provided to all participants.
