Big Data POC Working Group using Apache Bigtop

Details
Many Thanks to our sponsors, Docusign, Elance, Safari Online Books and Cloudera for making this possible. Especially to Roman from Cloudera.
Elance (http://www.elance.com/) is the world’s top online workplace, where everyone from hot startups to huge companies find Big Data freelancers and other experts. It’s a great place to get paid for doing the work you love, while setting your own hours and enjoying a great lifestyle.
This is a hands on programming working group. The structure of this working group is to cover topics at a depth not available via blog posts by simulating POCs, installing and running the Hadoop Components in cluster mode, running the Hadoop Component unit and systems tests, running the Bigtop Puppet Scripts, and evaluating other popular BigData frameworks like MongoDB, Cassandra and Twitter Storm.
The goal is to have participants write code and start their own projects after this background introduction.
Agenda:
Elance Intro: who is hiring group exercise.
Doug Chang(15 minutes), Absolute SW: Example of a POC, what we can do better.
Roman Shaposhnik(1/2 hour-1hr), Cloudera: Apache Bigtop Creator
Marshall/Pierce Palomino Labs(1/2hr -1hr): Demo/Intro into Benchpress and why you need it vs. YCSB.
The structure for this working group is after this introductory meeting we will meet every other Sunday 1-4pm at Palomino Labs(if there is enough space) to do demos, answer questions, and form working groups for projects. We will have senior level tech leads and architects available for questions. The goal is to contribute to their code base by using this structure to learn. Charge is $200/month to pay for the office space rental if we don't find a sponsoring organization.
