SF Hardware Startup Meetup Oct 3rd, 6pm at Runway - Sponsored by Indiegogo!

Hey Hardwarians! It's time for another SF Hardware Startup Meetup!

Our sponsor this month is Indiegogo - who you all know as a preeminent crowdfunding platform, and more specifically they're really into doing hardware projects through their site. Kate Drane, hardware entrepreneur herself and Indiegogo's head of hardware, will be coming out to talk with us about what she's seeing in the space and how they see it shaping up.

The event is hosted by Runway Incubator who are a startup incubator with an awesome space inside the Twitter building on Market St., and they even have Skycatch - their own resident hardware startup. (Looking to add more)

DEMOS - If you've got a prototype to show us, or if you just want to talk about what you're working on, use this sign-up sheet to grab your spot! The format is 2 minutes maximum (hard stop): no projector, no slides. It's just you + a prototype and a microphone! Remember, people who've never demoed get preference over those that have already! Also, be there at 6pm sharp to secure your spot!

Volunteers - If you'd like to volunteer at this meetup, sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1cX8FsEQ3kZBT00J0JjD1Ow9oik7Gu_riqZyADvzvoQk/viewform

Announcements

Hackbright Academy is putting on: Silicon Chef a female-centric hardware hackathon.

- RoboBusiness is Oct 23-25th, if you have robophilia like I do, it should be a good time!

As always, let me know if I can help, or if you want to! Especially if you've got sponsors or venues you can connect us to!

I would be interested. Let me know can I be there?

      October 2, 2013

    • David R

It's automatic. You will get an email if you get off the waitlist.

      1 · October 2, 2013

  • Adam T.

Is the waitlist a first-come, first-served kind of thing? Or do we have to do something affirmative to claim an abandoned spot?

It's automatic. You will get an email if you get off the waitlist.

Make Urban Sensor Hack! This week and next we are hosting a series of live Make Master sessions on Urban sensing. Think of it as a virtual hackathon. At each session one of our master hackers will explain how to design, create and deploy sensor gadgets. Live at 3:30 PST Tuesday (tomorow) and Thursday.

The hardware startup meetup has drifted to where it conflicts with the IoT meetup and it's now becoming a monthly choice I hate to make (IoT wins this month). I know it adds work, and it's not as if either group is starving for attendees, but it sure would be nice to be able to attend both. Probably Sensored has a lot of overlap too.

Nick, any chance you and Alfred (and Rachel, although there hasn't been much conflict with Sensored yet) could try to coordinate these dates?

    I'll cross-post this to IoT.
