To continue the discussion, I think it important to focus major attention on not only on how the brightest can be promoted and helped shine, but on how we can more generally widen the pool of adherents to a pursuit of STEM learning. To "think big" in this context is to think of a vast, wide and deep pool of improved talent beyond the imaginable. We do ourselves and the cause an injustice if our focus is limited identification and promotion of the "shooting stars" Such extended reach to a larger pool of presently neglected talent might require Task Force focus on a cadre of supporters to work street-by-street to engage, inform, steer and help develop. This would go beyond mere volunteer mentoring. It would be community organizing at the roots.
