http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/c/0/7/8/event_183469272.jpegFounded in 1969, El Museo del Barrio is recognized as New York's leading Latino cultural institution. Primarily featuring Latin American and Caribbean art, El Museo also takes much pride in specializing in works from Puerto Rico and artists in the Puerto Rican community here in New York City. Since moving to it's current permanent location in 1977, El Museo provides artistic cultural diversity as a member of the famed Museum Mile in NYC.
Part of the larger 35th Annual Museum Mile Festival (http://museummilefestival.org/), El Museo will feature outdoor art-making activities, dance and music performances, and the opening of El Museo’s Bienal 2013: HERE IS WHERE WE JUMP. DJ's Charo Velecio & Antonio Ramos will be providing soulful beats while there will be plenty of street art, entertainment and other activities taking place. From here, we'll proceed to walk down the Museum Mile on 5th Avenue, visiting other museums along the way, ending up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on 88th street & 5th Avenue.
We'll meetup in front of the El Museo staircase @ 6pm and enjoy the festivities until 7pm or so before proceeding down the Museum Mile to take in the rest of the activities. Should be a fun night!
