NOTE: This event is now full. But, if there is enough demand, we will schedule a "second seating" to be held on another date. So, if you are interested in participating, join the wait list.

Hartford Area Humanists is pleased to announce the formation of the Humanist Dinner Club, a discussion group for our members interested in an in-depth exploration of the Humanist life-stance.

Our first meeting will be on Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 pm at the Spicy Green Bean Deli, 225 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury. Future meetings will be on the second Thursday of each month.

There will be a new topic to discuss every month, and there will be some type of assignment for participants. The topic for our first discussion group will be Humanism 101. Attendees should read the following web pages and watch the following videos (all of which should be comfortably done in less than an hour):

The Humanist Manifesto (http://americanhumanist.org/Humanism/Humanist_Manifesto_I)

The Humanist Manifesto II (http://americanhumanist.org/Humanism/Humanist_Manifesto_II)

Humanism and Its Aspirations (Humanist Manifesto III) (http://americanhumanist.org/humanism/Humanist_Manifesto_III)

What is Humanism by Fred Edwords (http://americanhumanist.org/humanism/What_is_Humanism)

The Humanist Philosophy in Perspective by Fred Edwords (http://americanhumanist.org/humanism/The_Humanist_Philosophy_in_Perspective)

Attendees should also watch these four videos (https://humanism.org.uk/humanism/) by Stephen Fry that were produced by the British Humanist Association (about 3 minutes each).

This discussion will be moderated by Dan Blinn (http://cthumanistcelebrant.com/). Future discussions will be moderated by others.

Due to space limitations, and in order to ensure a meaningful conversation, we are limiting this event to 8 people. There will be a wait list set up in case the event is full. IF the demand exceeds supply, we may consider an alternate seating.

Newcomers are welcome!

Finally, please note that the Spicy Green Bean Deli is a BYOB restaurant (no corkage fee), so feel free to bring libations of your choice!
