BLOCKS - a modular smartwatch

About Blocks: BLOCKS is the world's first modular smartwatch. We believe that people's needs don't necessarily fit into a single category - everyone should have the freedom to pick and mix functions and style that they like. So we decided to make a modular smartwatch. Each band of BLOCKS can be a sensor, a display, a processor or a battery that you choose. The greatest thing about BLOCKS is its open platform - any company or an individual can not only develop apps but also build their own BLOCKS.

About Openshades: The guys at Openshades have given a masterclass in how to innovate around a new technology. They have demonstrated huge energy and creativity over the last year around wearable technology and the internet of things.

One of their products is Wearscript. Wearscript is perhaps the Phonegap for the “Internet of things”. Kurt Nelson is one of the core developers on this project. Kurt will be giving us a talk on rapid prototyping the internet of things using Wearscript.

Great sessions last night - thanks to the organisers. I spoke to a couple of people about this but I'm helping organise a media event for Bluetooth SIG in London on 8th July. If anyone has developed an exciting wearable device using Bluetooth LE/Smart and would like some free publicity please get in touch - [masked]
