Health Technology for the Elderly: The Need, the Market, the Opportunity

The elderly are potentially the biggest market for personal health applications. But based on key LinkedIn discussion groups, this market is rarely touched upon. This discussion is intended to facilitate a dialog among attendees about challenges in caring for the elderly that personal health applications might solve. The presenter will also discuss the method to the madness around a start-up company’s particular foray into creating a technology platform to better support the elderly, as well as the disabled.

Suneel Ratan is CEO of Care Architecture, a start-up company whose mission is to design and build better systems of care for the elderly and disabled, with a focus on the underserved. He has more than seven years of experience as a senior executive in the telehealth industry. He served as vice president of business development for Health Hero Network, which the Bosch Group acquired in 2007. At Health Hero, he had strategic responsibility for a Medicare demonstration project of Telehealth-based care management that was one of the few Medicare demonstration projects to have achieved its cost-savings targets. He holds a master of public policy degree from the Harvard Kennedy School and Bachelor of Arts in political science from Columbia University.
