Our activities are center around cleaning up litter in forest preserves, parks and along streets and roads. When ever possilble there will be seperate hike or bike ride at a consecutive time. Are you more interested in the environment or exercise?

In order to include everyone wanting to volunteer what days and times are best for you? Saturday? (my first choice) Sunday? A weekday? Mornings or afternoons

Weekends and some Friday afternnons.

What attracted you to Helpers of Mother Earth?

Environmental stewardship in a local area. I have been involved in beach 'sweeps' and community environmental outreach for years. As a member of the Alliance for the Great Lakes act as 'beach captain' at the Calumet Park Beach (95th St. and Lake Michigan) for the annual beach clean up in September.

Are you interested in the non-for-profit part? or just the activities?

Do you know of a park, forest preserve or area in need of our help?

Almost any forest preserve stream, pond or lake shoreline (pick one) is littered with fishing line, hooks, bait containers (styrofoam especially) bottles, cans , 6 pack rings, etc. These items pose an ingestion and entanglement hazard for aquatic, bird, and terestial life.

Avid environmentalist thanks to my parents, boy scouts and U.S. Coast Guard Reserve career. Currently work for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency doing spill response awareness training, community outreach, and emergency exercises and planning.

What Glenn C. is saying about this Meetup Group

The only other 'helper' was Virgil and I felt he had matters well in hand, was organized , worked hard, and was successful in accomplishing the goals he considered important for the day. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and discussing our different experiences in helping the environment and other possible future events.
