From a mile high and up. We plan to get together for hikes, snowsports, watersports, camping, and maybe even some happy hours, dinners, and some dancing too. Some events will be for anyone, some will be more strenuous.
I hope to attract a group of fun loving people with open minds and free spirits. People that like to get high in the Rockies, however they may define that. This is not only for hippies but for anyone with a tolerant attitude. All ages, shapes, colors, faiths, familial status etc. are very welcome. Most events will be dog- friendly and/or kid friendly.
I have a different take on my role than some organizers, which is that I try to post hikes with some info about the length and difficulty, set up meeting times and usually encourage ride sharing, and beyond that, I don't necessarily consider myself to be the "leader," At most I am a laissez faire leader. I do not mind people splitting into groups that go at different paces, and on up and back hikes am quite OK with people coming that won't go all the way. What I post is what I want to do, you all can decide if you want to come along for all or part of it. If you are interested in seeing if others have in mind some variation of the hike, use your yes or maybe rsvp to mention it and see if anyone else is on the same page. Circle routes are different, I like them and have some I like doing and on those I will note that we won't be able to come back for less ambitious hikers.
Input from all members is appreciated and co-organizers would be welcome.
I like to allow anyone to email the group, but hope it will be used only when it is appropriate, otherwise email directly to each other. The message board may become an important networking feature as well. Also, please check out my other group, http://www.meetup.com/nowhere-you-are/ which will be more about meeting other free thinking, open minded people for more social activities.
