Hike To Locust Log Ridge on the Arkaquah Trail (4th Try)

Details
OK, here is the fourth and maybe last try at this hike, also sorry it is so last minute. The Arkaquah Trail starts from Brasstown Bald Parking area and heads west on the Arkaquah Trail. One hikes to Locust Log Ridge and then back. The vista here is where we will stop for a lunch. Most people know this hike coming up from Track Rock Gap. The Locust Ridge hike cuts out the steep 1000 foot, 1.5 mile climb and there is also more parking at Brasstown Bald. The total miles for this hike is 7.4 this is an exploratory hike for me, which mean I haven’t done the trail but have maps for it. An additional 1.2 miles can be added by hiking to the summit of Brasstown Bald (or if you are tired ride the shuttle up). There is a $5 charge for parking at Brasstown Bald. This hike is number 33 in the 50 Hikes in the North Georgia Mountains book. This hike will take over four hours. As for weather I have had to cancel this hike twice, but I am doing a slight change. If there is heavy rain or thunderstorms in the forecast the hike could be moved to Thursday or cancelled (image that). I will try to make any changes by the evening of the day before the hike (Tuesday evening). While I will give weather updates you are responsible for checking weather conditions for these hikes and determine if you can participate. Mountain Forecast (http://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Brasstown-Bald/forecasts/1458) is a good resource for weather in the North Georgia Mountains. If you have any questions send me a message.
