Welcome, fellow nature lovers! I've created this group as I'm new to Houston and would love to meet some folks who enjoy nature walks/hikes. If you love birds, so much the better! I am an amateur birder but must confess to being a bit of a bird fanatic. :) If you merely like birds, don't fret. We will have different types of walks. During the week, I'd love to join others for walks near Missouri City.  Please send me an email if you could make it for a week day walk close this area.  On some of these walks, the focus will be on getting out for a walk with others, and depending on the interest level, a little bit of stopping to enjoy the birds/critters. Other times, the focus can be more on birding with some walking. On the weekend, I'm willing to drive an hour or two from Missouri City to focus more on birding. So please read the description of an activity before you sign up! If you know of any great birding spots, please let me know! I've found Galveston Island State Park and Brazos Bend State Park to be fantastic birding spots! The walks will vary from 2 to 5 miles in length and the pace will tend to be <1.5 mph with a number of stops. I'm going to start out with shorter walks and build up to longer ones. If you are looking for a speed-walking group, then this probably is not the group for you.
