Mt. Pilchuck and Robe Canyon

Let's hike good-old Mt. Pilchuck, which is predicted to have good weather and its great views on Friday, along with likely some snow on the ground at the upper elevations for challenge and excitement.  On the way back, we'll also catch the Robe Canyon hike.

Hiking conditioning required for this hike:

To sign up for this hike, you must be doing hikes of 6+ miles and 2500+ feet vertical gain on a regular basis.  You also must have the equipment and experience for hiking on snow.

When signing up, please answer the sign-up questions as best you can.  Your answers and the info in your profile need to demonstrate the required level of hiking condition and experience.  If you do not answer the sign-up questions, your RSVP will be deleted.

Mandatory equipment:

• Traction devices (Microspikes or Yak-Trax) are mandatory for this hike. (Microspikes are more rugged, easier to put on, bite deeper on ice, and the preference of most experienced winter hikers. If you purchase Yak-Trax, the Yak-Trax Pro is recommended; the standard Yak-Trax tend to break.)

•  Sunglasses and sunscreen are mandatory for this hike.

•  Study hiking boots, warm mittens/gloves, warm hat, layered cool and warm clothes are required.

•  Equipment checklist:  There will be an equipment checklist to fill out at the carpool location (or trailhead if you drive separately).  If someone shows up without the required equipment, that person will not go on the hike.

•  Gaiters are highly recommended.

RSVP and Carpooling Logistics:

This hike is cross-posted on three hiking meetups: Seattle Outdoor Adventures, Seattle Hiking Meetup, and Hiking and Exploring with Friends.  If it is full on one meetup, sign up on another, or get on a waiting list.  The RSVP sizes may be re-adjusted depending on the sign-up distribution amongst the meetups.

The primary carpool is from Ash Way Park and Ride.  A preliminary carpool to the Ash Way Park and Ride will be available from Issaquah Park and Ride.

Carpooling RSVP: Carpooling from the Ash Way Park and Ride is the default logistic.  If you plan to meet beforehand at the Issaquah Park and Ride, please indicate such in a comment with your RSVP.  If you plan to get yourself directly to the trailhead without stopping at the carpool location, please indicate such in a comment with your RSVP.
