The Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust (Pennypack ERT) has 720 acres of meadows, woodlands, and floodplain forest that run right along Pennypack Creek just outside of Philadelphia. Glencairn Castle & Cathedral, which are rated as 2 of the best places to visit in the Philly area, are on the edge of this property.

We'll hike trails and the old abandoned railroad line along the creek for about 3-3.5 hours, then head over to the castle & cathedral for 20-30 minutes. The castle and cathredral are rated as 2 of the best places to visit in the Philly area. If you have never been here, then you will be amazed.

We'll explore the area for 3-4 hours walking 8-11 miles. Some parts of this hike are very hilly.

Caution: You should be able to walk 3-4 hours without much of a break. You should have recently hiked 8 miles in conditions detailed above. Hills, bushwhacking, & rocky conditions.
