Hidden Oak Hike (Beginners)

Distance: 3 miles RT, 400 feet elevation gain/loss

This is a short evening hike near Modjeska Canyon to a beautiful hidden grassy meadow with a large oak tree. Along the way you can see many fossil sea shells. There are no restrooms or water available.

DESCRIPTION: This is a 3 mile out and back hike starting from the old Modjeska Store on Modjeska Canyon Rd. We hike briefly along the road to trails with one moderate hill climb and decent to the destination. It will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

WHAT TO BRING: Water, comfortable footwear and yourself.

DIRECTIONS: From Santiago Canyon Rd take the curvy Modjeska Grade Rd for about 1.3 miles and turn left at the traffic circle to Modjeska Canyon Rd and park at the old Modjeska Store on the left. Alternatively, you can take Modjeska Canyon Rd from Santiago Canyon Rd (follow sign for Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary) until you reach the Store on the right, about 0.8 miles.

Suggestion to carpool: From the Stater Bros on El Toro and Trabuco in Lake Forest
