Winter Tree ID Hike at NJ Audubon In Bernardsville, NJ

Details

Join the Somerset Hills YMCA Outdoor Adventure Group for a Winter Tree ID Hike with local environmentalist, Jack Donohue. Meet at the dirt parking lot off Hardscrabble Road in Bernardsville at 9:30 am. Please email Karen for specific directions to this parking area adjacent to the NJ Audubon property. This is the best time of year to learn tree identification and characteristics. Hike the beautiful trails along the Passaic River on the NJ Audubon Property and learn about the trees along the way. Dress warmly as we will be stopping and starting as we examine the trees and learn their names! Tree ID is an hour and a half with an hour hike to follow, if your time schedule allows. Fee is paid at the hike, $5 cash please to Jack for his time and expertise! After the hike, be sure to wander into the newly renovated NJ Audubon Nature Store. The bird-feeding station next to the building is a popular attraction for birds and bird-watchers alike. Great to get outdoors in the winter and enjoy the fresh and crisp air.

Please contact Karen at go4witt@aol.com or 908.507.9533 for specific directions to the trailhead and any last minute changes due to winter weather. Happy Trails!
