VAMPIRES: Immortal, alluring, and highly dangerous -- what's not to love?

Just about everyone enjoys a good vampire story, as evidenced by our lasting fascination with the undead. If recent books, movies, and television programs are any indication, the vampire craze continues to run strong without any signs of abating.

It's one thing to read or watch a vampire story. But have you ever thought of BEING in one?

House Divided is the Richmond, VA chapter of a global organization of vampire aficionados who participate in an ongoing, live-action vampire story that spans years and national boundaries. We call it a "game," but it can also be thought of as a massive collaborative drama that literally involves participants from all over the world. Our setting is White Wolf's World of Darkness (TM); we act out our characters but follow no set script, and use our imaginations to fill in the rest.

The World of Darkness (TM) is much like the real world, except the shadows are a bit deeper, politicians are a touch more corrupt, the police are more brutal, and the criminals are more savage and depraved. The cities are falling into physical, moral, and spiritual decay while the wilderness shrinks and becomes more tainted by the day. Its human inhabitants are increasingly cynical and desperate, able to function only through intense denial of the horrors around them, by turning a blind eye to the monsters that stalk the night.

The vampires of the World of Darkness (TM) wage a centuries-long campaign that mixes politics, intrigue, social manipulation, and outright warfare. These activities are generally kept hidden from mortals by The Masquerade, a conspiracy of secrecy and denial of vampiric existence. Vampires are organized into various families ("clans"), each with their own mysterious powers and motivations, who contend and compete with one another for dominance while maintaining a thin veil of civility. All vampires must also struggle with balancing what remains of their humanity with their bestial instincts to hunt, feed, and destroy.

Interested? No prior experience is necessary! While some familiarity with the World of Darkness(TM) is helpful, our members will be more than happy to assist you with developing your own unique character and explaining the basics of playing a vampire. You are more than welcome to try our game FOR FREE, or to just come out and see what we're about before deciding whether this is for you. We don't bite!

Seriously, we don't. Nor do we permit any manner of bloodletting or actual physical violence. With that said, our games do explore mature themes of gothic horror, and participants must be 18 years or older.

Beyond gaming, We also host informal social gatherings and participate in various volunteering and charity projects to benefit the community.

In order to see our schedule of events, you must first join this Meetup group. This is not the same as joining our organization, and you may request to be removed from the Meetup group at any time. Upon joining this Meetup, you will receive an email with contact information for our officers, any of whom can tell your more and help get you started.

Thanks! We look forward to meeting you!
