Play time at the Beach!

Details
Let’s meet at Galveston Island State Park at 11:00 am.
Directions: The park can be reached from Interstate 45 by exiting right on 61st Street and traveling south on 61st Street to it’s intersection with Seawall Boulevard, and then right (west) on Seawall (FM 3005) 10 miles to the park entrance. Shortly after you pass 13 Mile Rd on your right, you will see a park entrance on the left. After you turn left and pay the entrance fee, turn left again on the park road and then you will see a parking lot on your left. Anyone who wants to carpool should put something in the comments for the event.
Galveston Island State Park Entrance Fee: Adults - $5.00, Children 12 years and Under: Free
Amenities: There is lots of beach access, as well as hiking trails across FM 3005 in case anyone wants to take advantage of those.
State law and park rules require that dogs remain ON-LEASH. I recommend a long line leash if you don’t have one. ($10-$15 at PetSmart) Don't forget to bring water for your dog.
How to find us: I will wear a Red Shirt and my Whippet Mix that is Black w/White Points (approx 40 lbs.) will be wearing a Red Bandana. Since this a road trip for many of us, I doubt that everyone will arrive at a precise time. Considering that, lets meet on the beach across from the parking area.
In case you get lost or can’t find us, my phone number is 713-446-7382.
I found several restaurants that allow dogs on the patio, but I also received a few specific requests from the RSVPs, so I decided to leave the decision up to the folks that actually make it to the event. I’ll have the list of restaurants ready and we can make a decision once we all get hungry! (I’m thinking 12:30 – 1:30 pm for lunch, maybe later if we decide to hike a little.)
Forecast: The forecast calls for cloudy skies and a 20% chance of rain. Please note that the event will not be cancelled unless the chance of rain increases to 60% or higher, or in the case of a lightning storm. See the event comments for last minute updates if the forecast changes to include these conditions.
