Welcome to the Houston Kayaking Meet Up!

WE ARE NOT A BUSINESS!!! We're a group of Houston-area kayaking enthusiasts who love being out on the water and meeting like-minded individuals to talk about kayak gear, local rivers, lakes, and creeks, and to plan kayak trips. We have members of all skill levels, so you're sure to find a group to join you in some good, clean fun out on the water. Kayakers of all levels are welcome!

Please take a few minutes to explore this website. Hopefully, you'll find the answers to any questions you may have on here. Be sure to sign in; there is more info available to members when they sign in. The "About" link up at the top provides more details - who we are, how we plan, where we go, etc.

The "Message Board" link, also up at the top, is the key to all our activities and interaction. Anyone can post a question or suggestion for a meet up. Anyone can offer to lead an outing. Although you can contact an organizer personally, chances are that somebody else may be thinking the same thing. So, by posting on the board, you'll be helping somebody else, too.

"It's tempting to sit and wait for life to come to you.

But it can't, it's too busy.

Life is out there.

You have to go for it."

--- Harry Beckwith

"What do you do if you own your boat and want to use a local business to transport it from the finish line BEFORE the race so I can get good parking and then at the end I just load on my personal vehicle and can stay and enjoy the rest of the event!"

"Most of what I've heard about paddling the Colorado is farther upstream, between Smithville and Columbus. That area includes an official "Texas Paddling Trail" and a two day trip recommended by the LCRA. http://www.tpwd.state......"

"I live in Silsbee, near Beaumont, where there are lots of paddling opportunities nearby. I like the backwaters and bayous, and would take a slough over a river just about anytime."
