What is Wellness? What is Health? Whose responsibility is it to maintain health and achieve wellness?
According to the World Health Organization, "Health is more than the absence of disease. Health is a state of optimal well-being." Optimal well-being is a concept of health that goes beyond the curing of illness to one of achieving wellness. Achieving wellness requires balancing the various aspects of the whole person. These aspects are physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
Each of us has the power within to creat wellness. The question is "Are we making the wise choices to promote wellness?" If not, we will lose the balance and integrity of our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects.
Sadly, our well-being will suffer in the hands of others. More often than not, it might be too late.
To achieve wellness takes determination, discipline and education. It's a long, ongoing process.
