Matthew Morey: Core Data with multiple managed object contexts

We will restart our regularly scheduled meetings on March 2013 with a Core Data presentation. I hope to see all of you on START on March 19th!

Presentation description:

When using Core Data for persisting app data multiple managed object contexts (MOC) are often required to avoid blocking UI. Typically you would create a background MOC and listen for changes on the main MOC, merging changes as necessary. With iOS 5, MOCs now have parent context and the ability to set concurrency types. These new features greatly simplify dealing with Core Data on background queues. During this presentation Matt will cover the pros and cons of this new method of dealing with Core Data.

Awesome prezsentation, thanks to everyone for answering my questions on using Core Data and Mogenerator, looks like I'll try using in the box core data for my current project then look at Mogenerator on the next.

Got confirmation from Jesse that they'll find another date for the Ruby Brigade meetup. We're good to go for the 19th.

I can assert my supreme power over Jesse, organizer of Houston Ruby Brigade (and also my friend) and tell him to "STEP OFF!" to the voice of Jack Black.

I think their meeting is supposed to be the 2nd Tuesday, so I don't think it's out of the question to ask them to move their date.

Yeah, I'm trying to find out from our hosts if we can reschedule it to another day (and what option it would be) or if we have to potentially look at another venue.

I'll post an update to the group's mailing list when I have an answer on that.

It's traditionally the 3rd Tuesday of the month. It wouldn't be changed to Wednesday the 20th. If anything, we might need a different venue.

and can I request, in the event it's changed, to not be on the 20th, as this would be on my user group's (C# UG) night.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
