I grew up riding my neighbors ponies and horses. I learned practical care from that experience, reading all the Walter Farley books on The Black Stallion, and finally buying a horse that ate me out of house and home. So I learned feed, hoof care, and stall-mucking. In exchange, after a ride, I got to walk the animal and brush him down. This was always a time of quiet and peace, outside of the soft rumblings of pleasure they would emit.

All creatures great and small. This sounds wonderful! I can't keep anything larger than my two cats here...maybe a goat since I live on a rocky hillside. It would be great to befriend your donkeys and meet some new people.
Totally understood the cute factor. I wish Steve the best good luck in his venture, and I hope to be able to attend more meets to exercise the four legged friends.
