August Developer meetup

Details
Really sorry, it looks like we have a clash of dates. The developer meetup will now be on the 20th August. Hope you can still make it.
=============
We are very pleased to announced the August Developer Meetup. Thanks to Matt Weldon for offering to do the talk
Introducing Elixir
Elixir is a dynamic, functional language designed for building scalable and maintainable applications.
Built on the Erlang VM, it’s known for running low-latency, distributed and fault-tolerant systems, while also being successfully used in web development and the embedded software domain.
It’s a really exciting language with a lively community and a growing ecosystem which has gained a lot of momentum since hitting 1.0 back in September.
In this talk we’ll be taking a quick look at:
• The history of Elixir and the Erlang VM
• An overview of some of it’s most interesting concepts such as pattern matching, OTP and macros.
• The tooling, including Mix (the build system), Hex (package management), Ecto (data access) and Phoenix (MVC framework).
• A quick look at performance.
• Where to start and why you should pick it up and give it a go yourself.
Matt Weldon
Matt is Head of Technology at Sypro, a local SaaS company focused on delivering online project management software to the Construction industry. If he’s not coding, he’ll be sampling Belgian ales or spending time with his wife and 2 young kids.
