We are delighted to announce our next Hull Digital meetup.

Open Source, the way forward?

Open Source Software, once regarded as pointless is now becoming a trend in software development. The talk will cover what is open source, why you should bother contributing, benefits of using it and what big names there are. The talk will be an introduction into open source software but should leave you wanting to try it a bit more.

Adam Jennison

About Adam

Adam is a jack of all trades and master of none, having tried his hand at building, plastering through to web development and database design. He gets bored easily.

Adam works for Hull City Council within the IT department as a system admin, developer and systems integrator. His life has always involved and revolved around some form of tech helping him look to the future with optimism.

The Talk

RESTful APIs and DOA (Data Orientated Architecture)

Following on from Eddie Coates-Madden's talk back in November about public data from Hull City Council, Adam will talk about how the Council are looking to open up their data for developers to use, and how they are looking at building APIs that are fit for purpose.

Adam wants to hold a discussion with developers regarding his thinking on how the Council integrate the 150-300 disparate systems they run.

We'll have the normal great chat and networking before and after the speakers. The talks will be commencing at 7pm.
