Topic: How language can form perceptions.

ALERT!!:

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Dobson and Gilbert roads from 10 p.m. Friday (Oct. 2) to 5 a.m. Monday (Oct. 5) for rubberized asphalt paving. Detour: Drivers can use McKellips Road and University Drive as alternate routes.

This topic promises to be one of our most interesting. How do we perceive the world around us and determine what is real and what isn't? How does the language used in news media, social media, entertainment, etc. form our perceptions about events and the people involved in those events? How does the meaning of words change over time and what impact does that have on our perceptions? These are just some of the directions that this discussion can take.

Do some research on your own if you like and find some articles or links to help with the discussion and feel free to post related articles in the comments section below.

If you are interested, a group of us like to go out to lunch afterward. We will wrap up the meeting around noon so you just might be hungry by then.

Hosted by Richard Dewey the first Saturday of each month.
