Colorado River Summer Cleanup - Rafting

Details

Humanists Doing Good volunteers are planning to participate in the Colorado River Summer Cleanup again this year. Last year we picked up trash while on foot, but this year we will be operating by raft and there is also the possibility of operating on foot. The goal is to remove debris from the river and banks to improve our environment. If you have access to a raft or canoe that you would not mind being used to transport trash for this event, please let us know. Dues paying members will have priority seating on the raft and any other watercraft that may become available until capacity is reached. Some people who are signing up to raft are quite willing to opt out of this particular trip so that others may participate, so please do not hesitate to sign up to see if there may be room for you aboard the raft. Anyone who is interested is invited to participate in the land crew that will be walking a portion of the river trail system to clean up litter. If you sign up for the raft and there is not space available, we ask that you please be understanding and invite you to participate with the land crew. The rafters will depart from the Blue Heron/Redlands boat ramp and will get out at the Fruita boat ramp.

There will be a free volunteer appreciation barbecue provided for the event participants after the cleanup at 5 pm at the Riverside Park (675 West Colorado Avenue, GJ). We'll continue to post any information that becomes available on our meetup site.

When you RSVP, please indicate if you prefer to be on the raft or the land crew (we'll be operating our own raft with HDG people and the land crew will be led by people outside of HDG).
