Hiking the Ute Petroglyph/Palisade Rim Trail

Details

Humanists Doing Good will be hiking the Ute Petroglyph/Palisade Rim Trail in the morning. The trail is an approximately 2.7 mile loop and is rated at a moderate difficulty by gjhikes.com. There are no facilities and you will need to bring plenty of water and any food you may require. We recommend wearing sturdy and comfortable footwear that is suitable for rough and varied terrain. We will have the opportunity to see Ute petroglyphs and terrific overlooks of the valley during the hike.

Other recommendations include a hat, sunscreen and camera.

The Palisade Peach Festival is also taking place the weekend of the hike so we may be able to enjoy some of the festivities afterward.

Here are some basic directions:

From Grand Junction: Head east on Patterson. Patterson will change to Front Street/Highway 6/G Road as you travel. After you've gone through Palisade, and once it's G Road it will curve to the North. There is a large parking area on the left next to the river. We will meet there since there is ample parking. This is only a few hundred yards from the trailhead, which is across the road.
