Announcing a new Meetup for Hyderabad Android App Developers/Entrepreneurs meetup group!

What: From Cupcake to Gingerbread: The Bittersweet Tale of Android

When: Thursday, August 26,[masked]:30 PM

Where: PurpleTalk
3rd Floor Sanali Infopark Road No. 2 Banjara Hills Hyderabad

Android, in comparison to other smartphone platforms such as Symbian and BlackBerry, is a newcomer. However, this toddler is already taking rapid strides as evident from growing market shares and a multitude of smartphones storming the market. The challenge, as I see it, is coping with the various versions of the android OS that these smartphones run and attempting to provide a seamless user experience when it comes to developing an android app keeping all these "avatars" in mind.

Our food for thought in this meetup:

1. What motivates companies to release high end phones with older versions of the android OS till date? (Case in point: the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 was launched with OS 1.6). Do the older versions allow more customization options compared to the recent ones?

2. As an android developer, what are the basics to be kept in mind if we are to provide the best experience across all versions?

3. Coding for the android platform as against iPhone and BlackBerry.

Please share your thoughts and feel free to demo any android app developed by you. We would love to see them
