Hello my dancing friends!
I've just finished taking down my tree and packing up all of my Christmas things. I love the holidays, but when it's done, it's done and I'm ready to head toward 2012. I know that 2012 is going to be even better than 2011, and 2011 is a year that will be tough to beat. I was on the road a little less than 100,000 miles this year and visited 4 countries, 89 cities, took 46 trips and was away from home 223 days. Yet somehow, I found the time to dance. :o)
New Year's Eve
Denim & Diamonds ~ There are currently 14 people heading to D & D to bring in the New Year. Cookie will be picking up the tickets on Wednesday. If you are planning to join us, please RSVP on the MeetUp site, or send me an email and I will add you to the list.
Red River ~ there are 2 people registered on the MeetUp site, but I have heard from 2 others, for a total of 4. I think it will be crazy busy with lots of dancers there. I've made Liza and event host and if anyone else would like to have that title, please send me an email and I'll add you to the list. Have a great time! Please check their web site for ticket information.
Electric Cowboy ~ I've not heard of anyone headed there, but if you plan to head that direction, please RSVP on the MeetUp site.
Have you made any New Year's Resolutions/Goals?
One of mine is to get more comfortable at West Coast Swing. I'm finding more and more people are doing this dance and I'm tired of apologizing as I walk out on the floor with a partner and doing the same when the dance is over. I've signed up for the Wes Neese classes at A Dance with Me when I am home on Thursdays this year.
Are you an intermediate/advanced progressive dancer? JJ Jackson will be teaching classes at A Dance with Me Studio starting on January 11. I've added this to the calendar, and it looks like I'll be able to make two of the classes.
Is this the year you will take some dance lessons?
Don Chesshir has a new set of classes starting at Sandunga in January, please visit his web site for more information. Don had been adding his classes to our MeetUp calendar.
Jim Woeber will be having waltz classes for the month of January on Wednesday nights at the Electric Cowboy. Friday night classes will be changing each week. Please visit Jim's web site for more information.
Maybe country dancing isn't your thing? Cindy Dorber offers a variety of dance classes. She also let me know that starting in February Ben Hooten will be teaching both West Coast swing and country lessons...more to come as I hear from her.
Our current membership is at 257. I'm always amazed to see that number continue to rise. There are a lot of people just like you (and me) that are out there looking for someone to dance with. We have members at all sorts of dance levels. I have left the calendar open so anyone can post any event, venue or class to the calendar. If you know you are going to be out and dancing, please feel free to add it to the calendar. You may be surprised that there are quite a few other people looking for YOU to dance with.
May your dance card be filled in 2012.
