The count tonight for membership in the I Need a Dance Partner Meet Up group is at 498---wow. I deleted a few people who haven't been to the site in a year and we are still teetering on the edge of 500 members. There have been 51 new people who have joined the group in October. Are you still out there looking for a dance partner? Take a look at the list of people and see if there's someone in your corner of the world that might be looking for a dance partner too. Take a few minutes to say hello, or to send a message. Did you sign up for an event? Post something to the message board and ask if anyone is looking for a partner. It's worth a try
The calendar is stuffed full of lessons at Red River, The Electric Cowboy, Gilley's, SOKOL, Toby Keith's, the Stagecoach and the dance lessons at Sandunga. I know that there are other venues in the area, other types of dance classes and dance studios. The Meet Up calendar is open, anyone can add an event. Take a jump outside of your comfort zone and think about being an event host. An event host just keeps an eye out for the new people and makes them feel welcome. I can send you a link for a sign that can be printed out as well. We all know what a challenge it can be to walk into a place and not see any familiar faces, or a welcoming smile.
I continue to travel a great deal for my job...this week I am in Miami, Florida. It warms my heart to see how tis group continues to grow and to see friendships popping up at the different event nights. If you see me at an event, please introduce yourself and expect a welcome hug. (That's just how I am.) Some of you haven't included a photo, how the heck are we supposed to know it's you? You might also want to put information on your profile about the type of dancing or lessons that interest you. It might make it a little easier to find a partner.
I didn't spam your mailbox with announcements, so be sure to check the calendar and sign up for some of the events. We all started with that first night out, that first lesson. I know that for many of us that took a few lessons and started dancing, it changed our lives. No more sitting home on the couch munching popcorn and watching a movie. I want to be out there dancing and having fun!
I hope to see you at an event soon...keep dancing my friends--happy and loving life.
Happy Halloween! May your day be filled with more treats than tricks, I'm partial to milk chocolate myself.
