Thank you very much for taking the time to share your Zenoss experience. Thanks to GigaSpaces for hosting.

As promised, I am providing a link to Graphite, a scalable real time graphing tool - Unlike Zenoss it does not collect any data, so I am providing the links to collectors as well:

StatsD: from Etsy. To get an idea of what StatsD is, its motiviation, implementation and usage, make sure to read this article from a great Etsy’s development blog:

sflow2graphite which you can learn about at
    and finally, Collectd available at

Being a pure graphing tool, Graphite does not provide any fault management so it’s often used together with Nagios or similar systems.

Graphite is a great tool but unfortunately it does not qualify for fits-all solution, mainly because it works with aggregated data. That means no drill-downs needed for fast and effective root cause analysis (RCA).

I am currently experimenting with Cube http://square.github.... to get it covered.

Ilya, many thanks. At a glance these tools seem to be infrastructure "Lego cubes" for developing whole monitoring product. I hope that Zenoss and other NMSs will start to use them.
      - yesterday colleague told me about
      - interesting discussion, especially Florentin comment http://www.linkedin.c...

    Many thanks to all participants!
Many interesting topics were raised in our discussion, I suggest to post some links/ideas here.
    Questions are welcome as well.
I don't see how I can attach my slides to this post, tomorrow I'll upload it somewhere and send URL.
