Crafty Friday

Welcome to~ Crafty Friday !

Brought to you by~IXR

Craftpunks, makers, tinkerers, hobbyists,...whatever name you use, come share your intrests, hang out and show us the cool things you make.

Format of this group will be:

  • Introductions and chit chat (~15 min): Get to know each other, IXR, and our lab
  • Show & Tell (15-30 min): Show us a project you're working on or ask questions about any of the crafts that have been brought in
  • Project/work time (until close): Create, question, learn, and share

IXR Lab Resources: Available for lab use- We have some craft supplies available. Shells, rocks, yarn, crochet hooks, paper, glue, are some of the materials already here. There are also easy electronics projects you can purchase to work on, if you're more of the technical type.

BRING: If you have your own laptop, bring it. If you do not have a laptop thats OK! Just please state so in your RSVP so I can be sure to have one available for you from our lab. The internet is a great resource to find projects if you don't already have one in mind. You can also stop by your local craft store for a project to bring before you come.

COST: Crafty Fridays are Free to IXR members; for non-members there is a $5 recommended donation.

**** Parents, we ask you to please accompany children under the age of 18. Please remember to leave the lab as you found it, and clean up when you're done. ****

****Above all, have fun and create!****

Bruce: I've been to Michael's and A.C. Moore craft stores in the last couple of days, and they have great holiday projects at very low prices. I've picked up supplies to make an applique for my Mrs. Clause apron. I also have lots of yarn at IXR, if you know how to crochet. If you'd like to do a combo project, you can pick up the electronic ornament kit at Radio Shack($3.97), and a pastic or glass ornament ball($1-2) and anything else you'd like to decorate it with, and work on that. We have a lot of odds and ends around IXR like costume jewelry and ribbon, etc. Or, you can look around online for something to do. The purpose of this meetup is to get together with people who love crafting, share ideas, and get some input on what people might be interested in learning. Have a great Thanksgiving, and I'll see you Friday :)
