Tell us why you joined IgniteTech

I'm trying to become more involved in the software development community in Dayton; I like what I've heard about IgniteTech and I want to be involved.

How can we best help you ... launch a new idea, grow an existing idea or venture, startup investment opportunities, employment with a tech startup, general networking ... etc.?

Right now, I'm working (with some other folks) on bringing a Startup Weekend event to Dayton. We are still trying to nail down a venue and get community buy-in.

Tell us your story (the condensed version please!). Who are you and what area of tech and Internet startups hold your passion and interest?

I've been a software developer for more than eight years. For most of the time, I've been interested in software startups, but it always seemed to be something for someone somewhere else. That changed in November 2013, when, on a whim, I went to a Startup Weekend event in Columbus. Then it really clicked that software entrepreneurship isn't a 'somewhere else' sort of problem. Since then, I've been trying to become more involved in the local development community. My interests are pretty wide ranging; I love education and community-building, and I've got a bit of experience and interest in geospatial data. The amateur game designer in me loves simple, turn based mobile games that aren't just grindfests and in-app purchases.

In a Mogul vs Mogul gladiator tournament of tech entrepreneurs who do you think would be the final two gladiators and who would emerge victorious as the greatest tech entrepreneur of all time?

I haven't the slightest idea how to answer this.

It's not all work, work, work all the time! We also like to have some fun too. So I'm curious ... Who or what makes you laugh (comedian, TV show, movie, certain writer, particular situations ... etc.)?

My kids, dialogue by Aaron Sorkin, sitcoms without laugh tracks.

I am a father, software engineer, startup enthusiast, and amateur brewer looking to connect with the software development community in Dayton.
