Meet the Housing Planners

Details

Did you know that there is an amazing team of housing planners working hard to tackle the issue of housing in Austin? Neighborhood Housing & Community Development (http://www.austintexas.gov/department/housing) devotes a number of staff to working on affordable housing, permanent supportive housing, veterans housing and housing policies and research. Come meet them!

In Fiscal Year 2015 -2016, the City of Austin expects to receive continued federal funding through four U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) entitlement grants: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and Housing Opportunities for Persons with A IDS (HOPWA). In order to receive these HUD grants, the City of Austin must submit an annual Action Plan to HUD that provides the community needs, resources, priorities, and proposed activities with regard to housing, community development, economic development, and public services. The City has developed a draft of its Fiscal Year 2015-16 Action Plan with input from Austin residents through the community needs assessment process and has released the draft for public review. The final Action Plan is due to HUD on or before August 15, 2015. You can review the plan here (https://www.austintexas.gov/sites/default/files/files/NHCD/Reports_Publications/DRAFT_FY_2015-16_Action_Plan.pdf).

This will be an opportunity to discuss with the planners what that action plan means for Austin. Bring your questions and join the conversation!
