Meetups happen one Saturday a month at 1:00 or 3:00, and on Thursday evenings in July and August at 7:00. I need to keep groups small enough to give attention to everyone, and I also would like to organize people into groups according to levels of proficiency, so that everyone can get the most out of the experience that they possibly can.

I'm a full time professional musician and instructor with many years and types of experience. Some of the more notable examples are that I've been invited to give workshops in the townships in South Africa, I've taught at Grant MacEwan College, and the women's prison in Edmonton, and I've played at festivals and as a session musician.

I include breath and awareness of the body as a tool to help get you out of your mind and into the moment so that you can be creative and express yourself more freely. I love supporting people who are afraid to play or sing.

Please tell me which instrument you plan to bring and how much experience you have. Also, please e-mail me and leave me your phone number so that I can speak to you. If you'd like to ask for my phone number so you can contact me instead that would work as well. Once I have a clear idea of your level of proficiency, I can put you into a group that plays at a level that best suits you. Once I know which group you are in, I will then put you on an e-mail list and inform you of the dates and times of all the meet ups and you can sign up for the ones you'd like. You cannot come to a meetup if you haven't spoken to me first.

If you have an instrument, bring it. I have a piano here and some drums and shakers. You can also just come and sing. You don't have to play anything at all. All forms of expression are welcome.

The fee is $20 per meet or $15 per meet if you pay for four at a time. You must pay for each meet. If you already know how to improvise very well and are so comfortable jamming with other musicians that you could get up on a stage easily and improvise in front of an audience, you are very welcome to come and join us, but this may not be the group for you. But perhaps you just don't know anyone else to play with or would just like to come and meet other musicians. Or maybe you just want more practise with other live humans because it's different from improvising alone. Or maybe you just think that it's so much fun that you can't get enough of improvising because it elevates the state you are in. I can provide that for you, but you do have to pay for each jam as I am facilitating and teaching and supporting the members. You may learn something anyways, and I'd love to have you!
