PKNOA is a big data platform for machine learning and data mining. It follows the “actor modelling” approach. The entire stack (storage engine, distribution and complex event processing (CEP) framework as well as operators, execution engine and machine learning libraries) is tailored for providing optimal performance based on actor modelling. In this talk, we will discuss the actor modelling and how complex event processing is used to manage data and to make them available for applications with heterogeneous data and processing requirements.

Wilson Edgar, PKNOA
Holds a MSc in Computer Science. He has sharp interest in programming languages and large systems. Carrying over 15yrs of consultancy work and founder of 2 startups, all the tools that helped him build a broader vision of computation.

Tobias Schoofs, PKNOA
Is a programmer, researcher and project manager with 20+ years of experience. He is mainly interested in low-level programming (operating systems, embedded systems, critical systems). He has worked in different industries including aeronautics and space, but also in more down-to-earth areas like retailing, banking and media. At PKNOA he is responsible for storage technology.
