We have a new Interim Meet Up Organiser, Mike Lloyd, who has taken over from Peter O'Brien, the founder of this group who stepped down a couple of weeks ago. Mike wants your views on the objectives of the group and will then get the next Meet Up arranged. You should have had an email from the mailing list requesting your opinions, or you can comment on the message board. All suggestions welcome!
Our mission statement:
We believe Independent Media is NOT media ultimately controlled by the super-rich/powerful, by large corporate advertisers or by governments; it is media created by one person or small groups of people who, typically, genuinely believe in what they are making.
Independent media can tell us more about the world we live in and about ourselves. It’s subject matters are not just limited to news, politics or issue awareness.
We hope to hold monthly meetings with opportunities for networking and talks and discussions, about creating and publishing Independent Media, from Blogs to Print on Demand books, films to TV and newspapers to websites.
