Congratulations Jeff. I must tell you I didn't vote for you as #1 but you made me think twice after seeing your photo and I thought, yeah I can probably do that - maybe not quite as close up but I was willing to try. When the snow was coming, I'd let them land on the windshield, thinking I could snap a shot. LET ME TELL YOU - NO WAY JOSE!! No sooner did I see flake after fake, then it would disappear and I couldn't even raise my camera fast enough . . . . After that, you do get my vote and my total respect! How did you do it?

Setup Info: Equipment- 100mm macro lens, extension tube (no electronic contacts), flash triggered via radio--camera right. 1/125th second, ISO 400, F8, flash @ about 1/16th power.....The extension tubes without contacts mean everything is manual. There is no electronic connection between the lens and camera. Depth of field is incredibly narrow. I was situated rather precariously on my belly @ the edge of White River while the snow was falling......This shot is cropped a bit, increase in contrast.....Gaynel, you've got a good idea sitting in the warmth of the car, but you found the problem with that...it melts the snowflakes VERY quickly, plus, the glass of the windshield that you're shooting through is optically very poor. Let me know if you have any other questions. These types of MACRO shots are very fun, but can be quite frustrating.
